The Tempest™ Mobile Ventilation Unit MVU-48 provides robust, portable airflow, offering efficient ventilation for large-scale operations in dynamic and challenging environments.
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
The Tempest MVU® 48 is a slightly scaled-down version of our MVU® 60, about 4,000 lbs (1,814 kg) lighter in fact. As the name implies, it showcases a still massive 48” (1.2 meters) seven (7) blade aluminum impeller and steel shroud. With its calculated 380,000 Open Air Flow CFM (645,624 m3/hr), the 48 is able to complete nearly any ventilation job in minutes, if not seconds; saving precious time, money, resources, and possibly even lives. Although it’s smaller than the 60, it sacrifices almost none of the performance to achieve its reduced weight and more compact size.
Tempest Hydraulic Mobile Ventilation Units (MVU®) are designed for heavy industrial use where ventilation is needed for long periods of time over multiple days, 24-7. The MVU® is a full function Hydraulic system, operating the ventilator, ventilator tilt and scissors lift. Allowing for sustained operation and minimum maintenance.
Tempest offers units with a self-contained diesel engine powering the hydraulics, or the unit can be Power Take Off (PTO) driven. Units can be set up with or without the following options: scissor lift, rotation, misting system, auxiliary fuel tank. They can be mounted on trailers, skid, hook lift skid, vehicle chassis.
Tempest Axial Ventilators provide higher air flow as there is no obstructions to the inlet. Tempest hydraulic MVU®s do not require any special rigging for transportation or storage and are immediately ready for use when needed.

Like the MVU® 60, all of the 48’s mechanical actions, including the fan’s blade rotation, are powered by a reliable hydraulic system. The hydraulic pressures are generated by its turbocharged Cummins Diesel engine, mounted under the MVU™’s silencer hood. Every MVU®-48 is custom built by Tempest’s team of engineers and fabricators. - Optional Features
The MVU™ 60 proudly offers a number of options in addition to its standard features that are designed to help you overcome any unique challenges you may face in your specific application. From ventilator lift, the rotation, to a high volume water misting system, these options give you the power to pick and choose exactly what you need to ensure you’re properly equipped to ventilate effectively and efficiently. - Scissor Lift Option
The optional Scissor Lift package allows the unit to be easily elevated on level ground to the height of up to nearly 10′ (3 meters). The lifting action is delivered through hydraulic pressures generated by the engine. - Ventilator Tilt Option
Available with an optional Tilt Package which allows the ventilators to be directed either 30° up or down, greatly increasing the unit’s ability to ventilate elevated or lowered areas. Tilt controls are powered by the hydraulic pressure system. - Ventilator Rotation Option
The ventilators can be rotated 380° continuously, in either direction with the Ventilator Rotation Option. The rotation action is powered by a 24V electric motor. - Misting System Option
Incredibly valuable in a number of scenarios such as hazmat, decontamination, and general cooling, the Misting System Option allows you to throw 87 GPM of water through 8 misting nozzles up to 130′ (40 meters) downstream from the ventilator. - Controls
Unit controls are electronic and electronic over hydraulic by both fixed panel with controls and a wired or wireless remote control. - Unit Mounting
Tempest offers a number of mounting options for the MVU®-48. Some platforms include custom tandem axle trailers, domestic and foreign commercial truck chassis, rail cars, hook-lift skid systems, and more. All of these mounts can be custom ordered and installed through Tempest.
